Description
View of Verona from the Roman Theater looking over the Adige river. With the tower of Santa Anastasia church, and the Lamberti tower or Torre de Lamberti. The nearest tower, of Santa Anastasia church which was started in 1280 and completed in 1400, stands 72m (236 ft) and contains nine bells. The further tower is the Torre dei Lamberti an 84 m (275 ft) high tower whose construction was started in 1172. This tower has two bells: the Marangona signals fires, work times, and the hours of the day, while the largest, called Rengo, is used to call the population to arms or to invoke the city's councils.
