Burano, Italy is an island situated in the Venetian Lagoon, close to Venice. Actually, it is a series of four islets all linked by small bridges. Known for its traditional lacework and brightly painted houses - the story is that they are painted this way to help villagers find their way home in the foggy periods during the winter. It is a place that invites exploration and is only about 45 minutes by water bus (Vaporetto) to get from Venice to Burano.
