Artist's Description

Stained glass window in the church abbey of Mont St Michel - From the 10th century to the 16th century, stained glass windows were the major pictorial art form, particularly in France, Germany, and England. In southern Europe, such as in Italy, frescoes were more common.
During the Gothic and Renaissance periods, large-scale stained-glass windows for religious buildings, such as cathedrals and mosques, and for secular spaces throughout Europe represented some of the most powerful, public art created.
The history of Mont Saint Michel, France extends back to the sixth and seventh centuries. Its use as a religious establishment began in the 8th century. It has been assaulted, defended, and fallen countless times over the last 1400 years, yet it stands still. It is an architectural and engineering miracle that is a testament to the skills, labor, and faith of those who built it.

About W Chris Fooshee

W Chris Fooshee

'The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.' ~ Marcel Proust, writer, Paris, 1871-1922. My photographs are not merely a record of what was before my camera, but rather my visualization of the place and time as I remember discovering it, be it a particular mood, impression, or ambiance. These images may bring back memories of your own travels or they might inspire, you in some small way to venture off and maybe discover exciting, new landscapes of your own. But in the meantime, consider placing one of these photographs on your wall as a window to foreign lands. A note to those who purchase one of my images, you have my deepest thanks. I am honored that you have chosen one of my photographs...
