Artist's Description

The vicinity of Óbidos, Portugal has been inhabited since the late Paleolithic, and was an important settlement before the Romans established the civitas of Eburobrittium, a large urban area where the remains of a forum, baths and other Roman structures have been discovered.
This medieval village is a delight to wander, both inside the city walls and out. The bastions and crenellated walls look out over the peaceful valley of the Ria Arnoia. They surround a historic center with a labyrinth of cobblestoned streets and whitewashed houses brightened with flowers and vibrant outlines of yellow and blue paint.
While the main street can be incredibly touristy, the true joy of a visit to Óbidos is wandering its tiny alleys within and along its imposing walls.

About W Chris Fooshee

W Chris Fooshee

'The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.' ~ Marcel Proust, writer, Paris, 1871-1922. My photographs are not merely a record of what was before my camera, but rather my visualization of the place and time as I remember discovering it, be it a particular mood, impression, or ambiance. These images may bring back memories of your own travels or they might inspire, you in some small way to venture off and maybe discover exciting, new landscapes of your own. But in the meantime, consider placing one of these photographs on your wall as a window to foreign lands. A note to those who purchase one of my images, you have my deepest thanks. I am honored that you have chosen one of my photographs...
