Description
The Götheborg III, is a replica of the Götheborg I of the Swedish East India Company, launched in 1738. The Götheborg I sank outside Gothenburg, Sweden in 1745. The Götheborg III is a full-rigged ship and carries ten tons of hemp ropes used for rigging the vessel, together with some 1,000 blocks and 1,964 m2 (21,140 sq ft) linen sail, all produced using 18th century techniques. It is one of the world's largest operational wooden sailing vessels.
The inscription on the wooden block "FOCK GINA" refers to the Jib (Swedish - Fock), and Gina may refer to the name given to that particular sail.
