Sunrise over the savanna bordering north Lake Jessup in central Florida watched by thousands of Sabal Palms. Sabal palmetto, also known as cabbage-palm, palmetto, swamp cabbage, and sabal palm is the state tree of both South Carolina and Florida. It is the predominate large species in many of the lowlands and coastal areas all over the Southeastern US.
