Description
Located at the edge of the Killarney National Park, St. Mary's Cathedral (1842-1855) is considered one of the best examples of Gothic Revival style churches of the nineteenth century in Ireland. The Church was built on the site of former churches. It is thought to be the ancient site of the early churches from which the town gets its name "Church of the Sloes" which in Irish is Cill Airne (Killarney).
