Description
Built in the first century BC to replace an earlier wooden bridge, Ponte Pietra (Stone Bridge) is the oldest Roman monument in Verona and perhaps the most striking. Of its five arches only two, built in white stone, date back to Roman times. It combined the original route of the Via Postojna with the hill opposite at a ford, used since prehistoric times.
