Description
The lovely, narrow, concentric streets of old town Eguisheim are lined with well-preserved, colorful, 400-500 year-old, half-timbered houses. It is a tiny, beautiful, medieval village in France’s Alsace wine region. Eguisheim is surrounded by hundreds of hectare of vineyards offering Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer varieties of grapes. Its other claim to fame is for being the birthplace of Pope Leo IX in June 1002.
