Inhabited since the Bronze Age, this charming medieval village of Penne, France is just like one might imagine, with its narrow streets lined with timbered houses and wooden corbels, a fortified church, ancient grain measures, and gates that are still intact. Under the protection of its impregnable fortress atop a towering rocky outcrop the village overlooks the Aveyron river.
