Description
A conductor waits as a steam engine arrives in Tournon. The Chemin de Fer du Vivarais, often called Le Mastrou or Train de l'Ardèche, is a meter-gauge railway built in 1891. The line was closed in 1968 but reopened a year later as a tourist attraction by a group of French railway enthusiasts. Unfortunately, in 2008 services were again halted due to lack of funds, but later acquired enough funding to resume service in June, 2013. Running between Tournon, in the Rhône Valley, and Lamastre in the Doux valley, the line is 33 kilometers (21 mi) long.
