Near the French city of Lyon, perched high on a hill with the French Alps as a magical backdrop, the medieval village of Pérouges is a perfectly preserved gothic treasure. It’s like walking through the pages of a story from the Middle Ages when knights and fair maidens ruled the day. This small village, one of Les plus beaux villages de France (the Most Beautiful Villages in France) has kept its Medieval past intact within its ancient walls.Typically held in April, the Parade Vénitienne de Pérouges (Venetian Parade of Perugia) is inspired by the Carnevale of Venice, Italy, and the participants don their elaborate costumes and masks and parade throughout the town silently posing for the admiring public, and each other. With the 15th and 16th century buildings as a background, it is a wonderfully colorful event.
About W Chris Fooshee
'The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.' ~ Marcel Proust, writer, Paris, 1871-1922. My photographs are not merely a record of what was before my camera, but rather my visualization of the place and time as I remember discovering it, be it a particular mood, impression, or ambiance. These images may bring back memories of your own travels or they might inspire, you in some small way to venture off and maybe discover exciting, new landscapes of your own. But in the meantime, consider placing one of these photographs on your wall as a window to foreign lands. A note to those who purchase one of my images, you have my deepest thanks. I am honored that you have chosen one of my photographs...
