Description
The Canal du Midi provides a quiet spot to wet a fishing line. Near Carcassonne with its massive ancient fortress and its beautifully preserved medieval city, the Canal du Midi is a 240km (149mi) long canal in Southern France that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea through 328 structures (locks, aqueducts, bridges, tunnels, etc.). Built between 1667 and 1694, it paved the way for the Industrial Revolution. The canal was at the time considered one of the greatest construction works of the 17th century.
