Description
Hanging canoes above Ruelle de la Place a small street that connects to Place-Royale. Place-Royale is a salute to Québec's French origins. With a bust of Louis XIV in the center this picturesque little plaza is considered by Québécois to be the literal and spiritual heart of Basse-Ville, the Lower Town. It looks much like it did when it was called Place du Marché during the late 1600s and early 1700s.
