Description
Carsulae is a well-preserved Roman city located in the Umbria countryside of Italy. It grew up as a way station on a previously unoccupied site shortly after the Via Flaminia was built around 220 BCE. The city was abandoned in the middle of the 4th century CE and never resettled.
The Chiesa di San Damiano was built in Carsulae during the 11th century CE, reusing an existing Roman building, including items that probably decorated other Roman buildings.
