Description
Nestled in the heart of seven and one-half lush acres between Tampa and Orlando near Lake Wales, at Bok Tower Gardens is Pinewood Estate. The enchanting 20-room Mediterranean-style mansion, originally named “El Retiro,” meaning “retreat” in Spanish, was built in the early 1930s for Charles Austin Buck, a Bethlehem Steel vice president.
Bok Tower Gardens is one of Florida's first attractions. Dedicated in 1929 as a gift of gratitude from Dutch immigrant Edward Bok, a humanitarian, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and world peace advocate, Bok Tower Gardens remains a true National Historic Landmark.
