The Romanesque-Gothic abbey church Basilique Saint-Remi in Reims, France, was predominately constructed during the 11th century in honor of Saint Remi, the patron saint of Reims. The basilica is considered the largest Romanesque church in Northern France, and several important French rulers, such as Carloman (Charlemagne's brother) and Louis IV are buried here.
Changes and additions were frequent, made from the 11th to 17th centuries. Unfortunately, the basilica was heavily damaged during the WW1 and was beautifully and painstakingly restored over the subsequent 40 years.
