Description
The Venice Lagoon is home to a handful of islands. Venice, of course, is the most famous, Murano, a place synonymous with glass-manufacturing, Burano, famous for the colorful houses painted in pinks, blues, greens, and yellows, and Torcello, somewhat off-the-beaten-path, is a quiet sanctuary of sorts away from the crowds.
Regardless of which island, every turn of every corner is a feast for the senses. The architecture is a combination of Gothic, Byzantine, and Moorish styles and influences. But the colors of Venice are what catch the eye. They are colors that, like fine wines, have mellowed with age, the sharpness of their hues have become softer, however they have also become deeper and more complex with the essences of time and memory.
These colors become abstract when reflected in the water that is everywhere. They move and surge and change upon the waves and wavelets.
