Description
A beam of sunlight streams in to the dark, beautiful interior of Edinburgh's St Giles' Cathedral.
St Giles lies on Edinburgh's Royal Mile and has has been at the physical and spiritual heart of Scotland's capital city since about 1130, though it is technically not a cathedral as it does not have a bishop. The church was named after the patron saint of cripples and beggars.
Most of the exterior dates largely from the 15th century, but much of it was restored in the 19th century.
