Description
A good-sized Black Bear rests draped over a limb in an Oak tree. Most people don’t associate bears with Florida. But, the black bear population has been expanding along with our human population. Urban sprawl is encroaching on traditionally remote areas, bringing people into prime bear habitat. As a result, bears and people are encountering each other more than ever.
In Florida, black bear ranges extend up to 100 square miles. Adult males generally range farther than females. They have been known to wander as far as 300 miles within a few days.
